Apple Fritter Pie

It's apple season and my Apple Fritter Pie will hit the spot. All the great taste of apple fritters but easily baked in a pie pan.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup cold water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. Rodelle Vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 3 large peeled Rainier apples, chopped (about 4 cups), divided
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice for apples
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp. Cinnamon Sugar mix
  • 2 Tbsp. butter, cut into small bits, plus more to grease pie pan
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven 350°F.
  2. Grease Pyrex Pie pan with butter set aside
  3. In a small bowl whisk together water, egg, and Rodelle Vanilla. 

  4. In a large bowl, sift together Bisquick mix, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and pinch of salt.
  5. Add wet ingredients to dry and stir to combine.
  6. Fold in apples, reserving 1 cup, and walnuts. Spoon batter into prepared pie pan.
  7. Sprinkle the top with remaining apples, cinnamon-sugar mix.
  8. Top with bits of butter. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
